Championing YOUr voice and your choice

Becca books.jpg

Cheerleader for your birth.

Why, Hello!

I'm Becca.

I'm an Oxford based mother and Doula.

Doula (pronounced Doo La) comes from the ancient Greek for ‘servant woman’.

I’m here to champion you, your body, your voice, your choice and your birth. To walk alongside you on your path to parenthood. (Note: I’m also happy to sit, stand, sway or dance – whatever you need!) Think of me as your own personal cheerleader for birth.

I offer practical and informational support as well as emotional care and attention to mothers and parents-to-be during pregnancy, birth and the early days. At the core, my role is to help you identify what it is you really need and desire. To tap in to and connect with what is deeply held. My goal is to support you in accessing what you need and satisfying your desires with authority and autonomy.

We've known for a while that continuity of carer during pregnancy and birth improves outcomes and experiences. The evidence tells us that. Doesn't it just make sense that at one of the most pivotal times in our lives that we benefit from the best care and attention from people we know and trust?

To be clear from the outset, I’m a cheerleader for birth.  ALL births; wherever and however they unfold. There is no right or wrong for me. Only what's right for you.

And if you choose me as your Doula, I’ll be a cheerleader for you and your birth too.

A Note on my

packages

Whether you are looking for the full range of doula support for your pregnancy AND birth or whether you’re looking for something specific over a shorter period of time I hope to be able to meet all needs.

I aim to be as flexible as possible in recognition of the fact that all pregnancies are different and the support we feel we need can shift over time. If you would like to discuss any of the packages in more detail or have any questions please don’t hesitate to drop me a line.

Finally, I don't feel that finances should be a barrier to receiving appropriate support. I'm always open to discussing my fees in person.

Continuous support in labour improves outcomes

We know that there is evidence to support the idea that continued support during labour and birth has a positive impact on outcomes and experiences. Evidence should you need it that having someone by your side at all times during your birth is a wonderful thing!

The above information is taken from a 2019 Cochrane Qualitative Evidence Synthesis which compliments an earlier 2017 Cochrane Review.

Two of the six outcomes relate specifically to the increased benefit provided by a doula rather than a partner who is not part of the birthing person’s social network.
